Glen Armil Meeting Draws Attention to “Nextdoor”

GA yard signA Glen Armil Neighborhood Association election meeting was attended by only 8 people Monday evening.  The association by-laws indicate that at least 10 people need to be present for a quorum.  Nominations for board members, President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President are welcomed by contacting Jim Welch at [email protected]. Another election meeting will be scheduled early in 2016, until then, the existing officers will serve.  While not official the eight people present, consented to this idea.

Of interest during the meeting Linda Cook explained a new app/social media service called “Nextdoor”.  This allows neighbors to connect to each other via email much like the Glen Armil Association was trying to do with its email list.  There are advantages to “Nextdoor” over a simple email chain. If you want to join “Nextdoor-Glen Armil” which is confined to our neighborhood, watch for an invitation from neighbors or again contact Jim Welch for an invitation.  Besides discussions about crime in the neighborhood, some neighbors are asking about organizing neighborhood watch areas, while others are sharing tips on lighting your property.

Glen Armil yard signs available, see the photo above.  To build some community pride the GANA directors are offering a free yard sign with each 2016 Association membership.  For a family at a single address, the one year subscription just $10.  It is our hope that on certain significant days or holidays our neighborhood will display the signs to tell Davenport, “Hey look at our neighborhood.”  The first will be Thanksgiving weekend, Nov 26-29 weather permitting.
